China seizes the moment at GEW Launch
The opening ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week in China began on Sunday evening at the Shanghai Theater Academy opening with a debut performance of musical drama “Forever the Moment” which highlighted youth entrepreneurship performed by undergraduates of the Academy. The Lead Host of Global Entrepreneurship China is Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates, is the first non-profitable foundation in China to advance graduate entrepreneurship. It works to encourage entrepreneurship education & practice, foster the commercialization of high-tech achievements, promote entrepreneurship friendly policies and improve entrepreneurial environment for graduates through project funding, the development of entrepreneurship education & research, networking & events.The drama, highlighting youth entrepreneurship, was composed and directed by the undergraduates. With aim to deliver the entrepreneurship stories in an artistic form and help entrepreneurial spirit deep rooted in the society.
VIPs at the opening ceremony included; Yan Junqi, Vice chair of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Chair of Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates;Lu Yongzheng, chairman of the Chinese Communist Youth League Central Committee; Yin Yicui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee and
Weng Tiehui, Deputy Secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government.
Monday 16th November was the start of a two- day event, the International Forum on Entrepreneurship Education held in Shanghai, in which a forum was designed to stimulate communication and collaboration between scholars, educators, entrepreneurs, government officials and advance the development of entrepreneurship education & research on campus.
Other events occurring this week are activities such as “I Have a Date with Angel- How can Entrepreneurs Seek Investment” in which instruction and advice is given to those young entrepreneurs who are eager to find Venture Capitalists (VCs) or “Angels” but do not know where to start or how to find them. The seminar will give information about the best ways for entrepreneurs to interact with Venture Capitalists and will be delivered by professional VCs and angels.
Campus Tour Talks are taking place all week as part of Global Entrepreneurship week in Shanghai, Beijing,Tianjin and Nanjin, given by outstanding entrepreneurs, designed to bridge the gap between young people with entrepreneurial dreams and leading business men whilst exchanging ideas and sharing experience. The campaign was kicked off in Beijing University in October and will be held in over 60 universities across China.
